Alissa wrote a post yesterdayabout how she likes to peek in at other people's houses--either study their photos or try to (in a non-peeping-Tom kind of way) glance in their open windows. She sounds exactly like me in this way. I love looking at people's houses, seeing the way they live. I love getting glimpses of people's lives, trying to figure out who they are by the stuff they have around them, by the spaces they inhabit. I think our stuff tells a lot about us.
Alissa also posted (a while ago) a tour of her home, which I found immensely interesting (can't find it in her archives right now to link to it). So, I thought I would do the same for you. I took these this morning before the girls had made a mess of the place.
Our living room/dining room/kitchen:
The girls' room:
Our room:
Our bathroom, which is also the main bathroom because it is the only one on the main floor (pardon the towel on the floor, Barrett did that just before I took the photo):
Finished part of our basement in the order in which you will come to it: stairs, laundry, hallway, guest room/office (Owen calls it, accurately enough, Grandma's room), bathroom.
The unfinished part of our basement, which is a royal mess and needs cleaning out, and which someday I hope we can finish into a nice family/play/art room:
In case you're wondering where are all the toys in the living room, well they're here:
Ironically, my friend Laura commented recently on my organization strategy to sort the toys into bins of like things (dinosaurs in one, blocks in another, play food in another, etc.). I stole the idea from her very own playroom.
So, there's the inside of my house. As you can see, there's lots and lots of wood. We do live in a log house after all.
You've had the whole tour. Now...I dare ya. Show me yours.
